Best Food and Wine Pairings in honor of National Wine Day!

Let’s be real, y’all. This day is right before my birthday and may be the best timing of the year. It’s National Wine Day! As the “Wine Nutritionist” I have chosen this branding to share with you all on Instagram and beyond that you can enjoy wine and still make progress with your health, fitness, or weight loss goals. I believe in everything for moderation. Today, I am choosing to share my favorite wines by Scout & Cellar Clean Crafted Wine and how to best pair foods and wines.

Information in this blog has been adapted from ScoutandCellar.com

Sparkling: GALLIVANT BUBBLY WHITE WINE

Pairs well with seafood salads, fried calamari and a long marathon Sunday brunch. This wine is 100& Sauvignon Blanc with added carbonation to make it a sparkling wine.

For this Sparkling White Wine, grapes were harvested from vines planted in California 8 years ago. After harvest, the juice fermented in stainless steel tanks for 18 days. The wine then aged in stainless steel tanks for 8 months until bottling, unfined and unfiltered.

Did you know that this centuries ago in France, Sauvignon Blanc vines accidentally crossed with Cabernet Franc vines and created the popular Cabernet Sauvignon?

Rose: Bookbinder’s Apprentice Rose

These bright and round tastes pair perfectly with roasted chicken, Netflix Tuesdays or a spring seafood feast! Seriously when I tell you guys that I drink this rose all the time, I do. It’s my favorite rose and it pairs well with EVERYTHING.

For this Rosé, grapes were harvested from vines planted in Mendocino County 10-30 years ago. After harvest, grapes were sorted, de-stemmed, pressed and the juice fermented in stainless steel tanks for 10-18 days. The wine then aged in stainless steel tanks for 5-6 months until bottling, unfined and lightly filtered.

Chardonnay: Ligado Chardonnay, Chile

Did you know most rosés are made from red grape varietals with minimal skin contact during fermentation? The skins are then removed, giving the wine its gorgeous pink color!

Pairs well with roasted turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, and crab. This wine is a staple in my home, as well. It makes an easy gift and pleases both lovers of Chardonnay. Some chardonnay is oaks and some is buttery. This one meets me in the middle.

The grapes for this wine were harvested from vines planted in Chile before being destemmed and moved to fermentation. Cold maceration and fermentation were used to maintain the grapes bright acidity. The wine was fermented in stainless-steel for 15 days, then aged for 8 months in a combination of stainless-steel and oak vessels before bottling.

Cabernet: Ligado Cabernet Sauvignon, Chile

Did you know the Casablanca Valley in Chile is the perfect location for growing cool-climate grapes varieties? About 50 miles northwest of Santiago, Chardonnay is the most widely planted grape and thrives due to the warm days and proximity to the Pacific Ocean.

Pairs well with burgers, social gatherings, and sipping by the fireside. When I think of a cabernet, I think of red meats and fine cheeses.

The grapes for this wine were harvested from 20-year-old vines planted in Chile. It is fermented in stainless-steel vessels for 20 days on native yeasts. Wine was then aged in a combination of stainless-steel and oak vessels for 5 months before bottling.

Did you know Cabernet is Chile’s most widely-planted grape varieties? The perfect growing conditions in Chile have gained huge interest from Bordeaux producers who have been partnering with Chilean wineries for years.
