Recipe: Kodiak Protein Donuts

Looking for something to make this weekend that feels like a treat but also can fit your nutrition plan? I absolutely loved making these donuts and sharing with friends. Typically, donuts have a high fat and carbohydrate content. Loaded with trans fat, they can take days to digest however, I believe in everything in moderation. These healthy donuts are high in protein, low in sugar, and lower in carbs and fat.

Kodiak mix can be purchased at almost any grocery store with the pancake mixes. I purchased a donut pan at Target for about $14.

Kodiak Protein Donuts:

2 cups Kodiak Cakes Mix

1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1/3 cup water

1 large egg

3 T Truvia

1 tsp vanilla extract

Glaze:

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

1/2 tsp maple extract

1 T natural peanut butter (optional)

Sprinkles (optional)

Enough unsweetened almond milk to make a thick glaze

Preheat oven to 350*. Mix all donut ingredients together and spoon in to Ziplock bag. Cut a corner in ziplock bag and squeeze portions in to pan. Cook for 7 minutes. Remove and allow to cool. Mix together ingredients of glaze and pour over the top of the donuts!

I personally love everything peanut butter, so adding the peanut butter and essentially making an icing, sweetened the glaze. Delicious! Enjoy.
